New Airport Flat Rate $25

Drivers, don't forget the new airport flat rate of $25 is now in effect. The boundaries on the flat rate zone are Dearborn to Roy and the water to Boren Ave. The powers that be wanted 14th Ave. to be the eastern boundary -- can you imagine going from 14th E. and Roy to the port at rush hour for $25?? Cab Drivers' Alliance suggested and got Boren Ave approved instead.

This flat rate is supposed to make it more painful for TownCar drivers to compete with us. Right now, the TownCar passenger often pays $40, not realizing $10 goes to the doorman. Often TownCar drivers are actually getting about $30, almost the same as us on the meter. If everyone knows we only charge $25 to the airport from downtown, TownCars will have to meet that price and doormen will have to stop telling lies about taxis to the airport costing $35. If the TownCar driver gives $10 to the doorman, he'll be doing the trip for $15 -- hopefully he won't feel it's worth it.
