Why Join The Alliance
1. For the first time in over ten years you a have organization
looking out for the interests of Cab Drivers of Seattle & King
County.
2. A place to complain to how the cab companies and/or City Hall is taking advantage of you and someone to look into your complaint if it is warranted. (Remember we're not miracle workers!)
3. We will write letters, etc., on behalf of all cab drivers.
4. We will attend city/county & other related transportation
meetings affecting Cab Drivers & report back to you. This includes finally having a drivers' representative on the Taxi Advisory Group, the City group which recommends new taxi laws.
5. Continue to pursue Dental & Medical insurance by an insurance carrier for independent contractors (like we are) at either a "Group Rate" or at affordable rates.
6. Seek/Retain legal counsel at our disposal and use if needed to resolve issues, if need be. You, the Drivers, would be consulted first before the Alliance took on a major cost or incurred a burden to the drivers.
7. Keep you informed on what is going on as much as we can
regarding taxi driver related issues via special bulletins, the newsletter and our website http://www.whatrain.com/cdakc.
8. We are fighting to get the For-Hire license format changed to protect some non-business-related personal information to protect drivers. And we got the time on the Safeco Field stand extended to include pre-game drop-off time.
9. We feel for less than 30 cents a day, this is one of the best
bargains for a Cab Driver in Seattle/King County; you will really get your money's worth.
10. We worked with the City to lobby State Congress regarding the out-of-control TownCars and their unfair business practices.
Your Alliance dues are as follows: $ 10 per month or $25 per quarter. Regular $10.00 monthly dues are due between the 1st and 10th of each month. All membership dues are non-refundable. Half the dues amount goes straight to the Legal Defense Fund and another part of your dues helps underwrite the cost of our newsletter. Board members and others are unpaid voluteers. Your membership number is your For-Hire number. Please hold on to your receipt.
Side Notes:
Remember, the Alliance Board of Directors and committees appointed to help us run this consist of cab drivers who are all volunteers and may not always be available, therefore either write to us at Cab Drivers' Alliance or call us at (206) 781-3501. Please leave your name, membership ID # (For-Hire #), phone number and address to get back with you. Also check with your company designated representative.
Also we encourage all drivers to attend the meetings we have and voice their concerns and bear in mind that sometimes the decisions the Alliance Executive Board makes you may not necessary agree with, but again we're human, and we're always looking out for the best interests of the Drivers.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Cab Drivers Alliance of King County
